Programroadmap, also written as program roadmap, is a strategic planning artifact used in program management to align a group of related projects and initiatives with an organization’s strategic goals. It defines the intended direction, key outcomes, and approximate timing across the program’s life cycle, providing a high-level view that relates to both product and project roadmaps.

Its primary purpose is to communicate the program's vision and plan to sponsors, stakeholders, and team members, helping coordinate multiple projects, manage dependencies, allocate resources, and monitor progress toward benefits realization. A program roadmap is typically time-bound and value-driven, emphasizing milestones, major releases, and the realization of strategic benefits rather than individual task details.

Common components include the program vision and objectives, strategic themes or themes, the scope and boundaries of the program, a prioritized list of initiatives or epics, a high-level release schedule, an aggregate resource plan, risk and dependency management, governance points and decision gates, and success metrics or benefits hypotheses. It is often accompanied by a governance model that defines how decisions are made and who owns each element.

Program roadmaps differ from project roadmaps in granularity and scope; they focus on portfolios of projects and their alignment with strategy, while product roadmaps emphasize feature delivery. They may be held as living documents updated during governance reviews and synchronized with product and project roadmaps.
