Portfoliosuchus is an extinct genus of early crocodilian that lived during the Late Triassic period, approximately 228 to 201.3 million years ago. Fossils of this creature have been discovered primarily in South America, particularly in Argentina, where it was first described in 1975 by paleontologists José Bonaparte and Fernando Novas. The name *Portfoliosuchus* derives from the Latin words *portus*, meaning "harbor," and *souchus*, a reference to crocodiles, in recognition of its discovery near the harbor of Puerto Madryn.
Portfoliosuchus is notable for its relatively small size, with estimated lengths ranging from 1.5 to 2 meters
