Polüetüleeniga, more commonly known as polyethylene, is a widely used thermoplastic polymer. It is produced through the polymerization of ethylene. Polyethylene is a cost-effective material and is generally considered safe for food contact when produced according to regulatory standards. Its non-reactive nature contributes to its widespread use in packaging, agriculture, and consumer goods. While polyethylene is recyclable, its environmental impact, particularly regarding persistent plastic waste, is a significant concern, leading to ongoing research and development in biodegradable alternatives and improved recycling processes.
