This structure gives EPS exceptional thermal insulation qualities and cushioning properties. EPS sheets are extensively used in packaging to protect goods during transport and storage, as well as in building insulation for walls, roofs, and floors. They are also found in disposable cups, food containers, and craft projects.

Both types of polystyrene sheets are generally recyclable, although the recycling infrastructure and processes can vary depending on location and the specific type of polystyrene.
