Polerowaniu is the dative or locative form of polerowanie in Polish, which denotes the act of polishing. Polerowanie refers to smoothing and shining a surface by abrasion, often with chemical assistance, to remove micro-scratches, improve appearance, and sometimes enhance corrosion or wear resistance. The term is used in metalworking, jewelry, optics, woodworking, and manufacturing.

Process: Polerowanie typically proceeds in stages: preparation, removal of material using progressively finer abrasives, and finishing to a high gloss. It may be performed wet or dry; chemical-mechanical polishing (CMP) combines abrasives with chemical agents to increase material removal and improve surface quality, especially on non-metallic or delicate substrates.

Tools and materials: common abrasives include silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, and diamond pastes; polishing pads, cloths, and felt wheels; polishing machines, lapping plates, and buffing motors; lubricants or polishing fluids are used in wet variants.
