plasterbased

Plasterbased refers to materials and products derived from plaster and used in construction, decoration, and sculpture. The term covers plaster systems that rely on gypsum plaster, lime plaster, or cement-lime blends, often with aggregates, applied to substrates such as lath, plasterboard, masonry, or metal mesh. Gypsum-based plasters, or plaster of Paris, set by hydration and provide a lightweight, smooth interior finish suitable for walls and ceilings. Lime-based plasters use lime putty or hydraulic lime and are valued for breathability, elasticity, and durability, making them common in traditional construction and restoration. Cement-lime or cement-based plasters combine Portland cement with lime to improve strength and reduce setting time, while trying to retain some breathability.

Applications include interior wall finishes, ceilings, decorative plasterwork, and ornamental elements such as cornices and mouldings.

Key considerations vary by type: gypsum plaster is light, fast-setting, and easy to work with but tends
