Peaktryck, or peak pressure, is the maximum pressure attained by a fluid or gas within a system during operation. In Swedish usage, peaktryck corresponds directly to the English term peak pressure. It is typically time-dependent, often differing from the average or static pressure.

In engineering contexts, peaktryck is a critical design parameter for pipelines, vessels, compressors, and hydraulic or pneumatic circuits, influencing component sizing, safety margins, and relief-valve settings. Units commonly used are pascals, kilopascals, bars, or psi. Measurement relies on pressure sensors or transducers that sample at high frequency to capture transient spikes. Distinctions are made between peak static pressure (the highest pressure at a steady state) and peak dynamic pressure (the maximum value during transient events). In fluid transients, phenomena like water hammer or surge can produce short-lived but high peaktryck, potentially causing damage.

In medical ventilation, peak tryck corresponds to the peak inspiratory pressure during inhalation; high values may indicate stiff lungs, poor compliance, or improper ventilator settings and can increase risk of barotrauma. For safety, equipment is selected so that its maximum allowable peakpressure exceeds expected spikes by a safety margin, and relief or rupture devices may be employed.
