palettás

Palettás is a term used in Hungary to describe a type of frozen confectionery: a rectangular ice cream bar mounted on a wooden or plastic stick. The word refers to the form of the product rather than a specific brand, and many manufacturers offer palettás bars in a variety of flavors and coatings.

Typical palettás bars are composed of ice cream or a sorbet core surrounded by a chocolate or flavored exterior. Common flavors include vanília (vanilla), csokoládé (chocolate), and eper (strawberry), with variations that add chocolate glaze, nut coatings, or biscuit and wafer layers. Some versions mix fruit pieces or cream fillings.

In Hungary, palettás are a familiar summer treat sold at ice-cream stalls, kiosks, and supermarkets. They are kept in freezers and eaten directly from the stick, making them a quick, portable snack for children and adults alike. The format is also found in neighboring Central European countries under similar names.
