The performance of a processor is measured by several factors, including clock speed, the number of cores, and the ability to handle parallel processing. Clock speed, measured in gigahertz (GHz), indicates how many cycles the processor can complete per second. Multi-core processors, which have multiple cores or processing units, can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, improving overall system performance. Parallel processing capabilities allow the processor to execute multiple instructions at the same time, further enhancing efficiency.

Advances in processor technology have led to the development of multi-core and many-core processors, as well as specialized processors for specific tasks such as graphics processing (GPUs) and artificial intelligence (AI). These advancements have enabled more powerful and efficient computing systems, supporting a wide range of applications from personal computing to high-performance computing and data analysis.
