In Finnish, oscillatorit is the plural form of oscillator and refers to devices or circuits that generate periodic electrical signals. In electronics, an oscillator sustains a repetitive output after an initial excitation by means of feedback through a frequency-determining network, producing a stable waveform at a characteristic frequency.

Common families include LC oscillators, which use an inductor-capacitor tank for high-frequency stability; RC oscillators for lower frequencies; crystal oscillators that use a quartz crystal to achieve high accuracy and low drift; relaxation oscillators, which generate non-sinusoidal waveforms via nonlinear switching; and ring oscillators, built from cascades of inverters for digital clock generation.
