Orteguistas, also spelled orteguistas, is a term used to describe adherents of Daniel Ortega’s leadership and the Sandinista political project in Nicaragua. The word combines Ortega’s surname with the Spanish suffix -istas and appears in both domestic and international discourse to identify supporters of his political program and the governing party, the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).
