Origoon is a fictional species of arboreal mammal from a science fiction setting created by author Mara Saito. It first appeared in The Lumen Gate (2018) and has since been featured in the Lumina’s Edge video game and related media. In the in-universe lore, origoon are celebrated for their cooperative behavior and ecological role in forest ecosystems of the world Verdant.

Physically, origoon are small, about 25–30 centimeters in body length, with soft silvery-brown fur and bioluminescent patches along the shoulders and flanks. They have a prehensile tail, acute night vision, and limbs adapted for agile, tree-dwelling locomotion. The species is described as visually striking in low light due to its glow patterns, which can shift in intensity during social interactions.

Taxonomy is fictional within the setting: origoon belong to the family Origoonidae, with social organization described as matriarchal and group-oriented. They live in mixed-species forest habitats and construct lightweight nests from plant fibers high in the canopy.

Ecology and behavior: origoon are omnivorous, feeding on fruit, seeds, insects, and small invertebrates. They form cohesive groups that defend territory collectively. Communication relies on a combination of vocalizations and synchronized bioluminescent signals, whichalso serve to coordinate foraging and social bonding.
