Orientcijas refers to a person's sexual orientation, which is their enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction to other people. This attraction can be towards people of the same sex or gender, another sex or gender, or multiple sexes or genders. Understanding sexual orientation is a key aspect of understanding human identity.

Common terms used to describe sexual orientations include heterosexual, homosexual (often shortened to gay or lesbian), bisexual, pansexual, and asexual. Heterosexual individuals are attracted to people of a different sex or gender. Homosexual individuals are attracted to people of the same sex or gender. Bisexual individuals are attracted to people of more than one sex or gender. Pansexual individuals are attracted to people regardless of their sex or gender. Asexual individuals experience little to no sexual attraction to others.

Sexual orientation is distinct from gender identity, which is a person's internal sense of being male, female, both, neither, or somewhere else along the gender spectrum. It is also separate from sex assigned at birth, which is typically determined by physical characteristics. The concept of sexual orientation is widely recognized as a fundamental aspect of human diversity and is increasingly understood as a natural variation in human experience.
