oqitish

Oqitish is the process of guiding and facilitating learning through planned instruction, practice, assessment, and feedback. In Uzbek usage, oqitish refers to teaching within formal schooling as well as informal settings, involving teachers (oqituvchilar) and learners (o'quvchilar).

In Uzbek language, oqitish denotes the act of imparting knowledge and skills by a qualified teacher, with learners actively engaged.

Historically, traditional oral instruction, madrasas, and family-based learning formed early oqitish; in the Soviet era, standardized schooling and curriculum emerged; after independence, Uzbekistan pursued reforms to modernize curriculum, teacher training, and assessment.

Common methods include teacher-centered lectures, discussions, problem solving, collaborative work, and project-based learning; use of information and communication technology; emphasis on literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and inclusive education for students with special needs.

Oqitish occurs across levels: preschool, primary, secondary, and higher or vocational education, plus lifelong learning and adult education.

Policy and governance: education is state-regulated, with national standards, teacher qualifications, and periodic assessments. Ongoing reforms aim to improve access, quality, and digital learning, while addressing resource gaps, rural participation, and teacher professional development.
