An opiskeluvuosi, or academic year, refers to the period during which educational institutions operate and offer courses. In Finland, where the term originates, the opiskeluvuosi typically begins in August or September and concludes in May or June of the following year. This period is divided into two semesters: the autumn semester (syyslukukausi) and the spring semester (kevätlukukausi).
