Operatorpanelen, or operator panel, is a human-machine interface that enables operators to monitor and control machinery. Operatorpanelen can be located directly on the machine, at a nearby console, or integrated into a supervisory system, and may function as standalone devices or as part of a larger control architecture.

Typical configurations range from simple push-button stations to full graphical HMIs. Basic panels include push buttons, selector switches and indicator lamps. Advanced panels incorporate displays, touchscreens, and graphical interfaces that show process data, alarms and status. Many operator panels connect to programmable logic controllers or industrial controllers and support control commands, parameter adjustment, and data logging. They may also integrate with remote monitoring systems and industrial networks such as Modbus, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP.

Safety and standards: Operator panels are designed in accordance with machine safety standards such as IEC 60204-1, ISO 13849-1 and, where applicable, IEC 61508 or IEC 62061. They often include emergency stop devices and must comply with enclosure protection ratings (IP) to guard users against dust, liquids and hazards. Ergonomics and accessibility are considered to minimize operator fatigue and error.

Applications and maintenance: Operator panels are widely used in manufacturing, process control, robotics and CNC machinery. Reliability, maintainability and security are important; panels may support self-diagnostics, remote updates and modular expansion. Routine maintenance includes checking wiring, calibrating displays, updating firmware, and ensuring network integrity.
