In the Sami language, "oksatuksesta" roughly translates to "the ridge of the birch."[1] This name is reflective of the mountain's location amidst a natural environment dominated by birch trees.

Oksatuksesta has an elevation of 772 meters above sea level, making it one of the higher points in the region. The mountain offers a range of geological features, including granitic and gneissic rock formations.
