A nätverksrouter, or network router, is a hardware device that forwards data packets between computer networks. In a typical home setting, a wireless router connects various devices like computers, smartphones, and smart TVs to the internet via a Wi-Fi connection, while also providing wired Ethernet ports for some devices. In larger corporate networks, routers are used to segment the network into smaller, more manageable units and to connect these segments to external networks, including the internet. They play a critical role in ensuring efficient and secure data flow across interconnected networks.
