It is commonly used in political, social, or cultural critique to describe coercive, intrusive, or overbearing behavior by individuals, groups, or institutions. Examples include nyomuló hatalom (oppressive power) or nyomuló társadalmi nyomás (intrusive social pressure). While it can describe literal physical pushing, figurative uses to condemn coercion or encroachment are far more frequent in contemporary Hungarian.
