Nyirokcsomóaspiráció, often referred to as fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of lymph nodes, is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to obtain a tissue sample from an enlarged or suspicious lymph node. The procedure involves inserting a thin, hollow needle into the lymph node to draw out cells and fluid. This sample is then sent to a laboratory for examination by a pathologist.

The primary purpose of nyirokcsomóaspiráció is diagnostic. It helps determine the cause of lymph node enlargement, which can range from benign conditions like infections or inflammation to more serious diseases such as cancer. If cancer is detected, FNA can help identify the type of cancer and whether it has spread to the lymph nodes from another part of the body (metastasis) or originated there.

The procedure is typically performed in an outpatient setting and requires only local anesthesia. It is generally well-tolerated with minimal discomfort and a low risk of complications.
