Its primary purpose is to facilitate rapid and efficient entry of numerical data. It features a standard layout of digits 0 through 9, arranged in a calculator-style grid.

In addition to the numbers, the numeronäppäintä includes essential arithmetic operators such as addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (*), and division (/). It also contains a decimal point (.) key, crucial for entering fractional numbers. A prominent Enter key is usually present, often larger than other keys, serving the same function as the Enter key on the main keyboard.
