Niele, also known as the "King of the Jungle" or "Nile Cat," is a medium-sized wild cat native to the savannas and grasslands of sub-Saharan Africa. It is characterized by its slender build, long legs, and a distinctive spotted coat that provides excellent camouflage. The coloration varies, but typically ranges from yellowish-brown to reddish-brown with black spots. Niele possesses large, forward-facing eyes, which are adapted for excellent nocturnal vision, and prominent ear tufts.

These cats are solitary hunters, primarily active during dawn and dusk. Their diet consists mainly of small to medium-sized prey, including rodents, birds, reptiles, and sometimes even young antelopes. Niele are known for their agility and speed, capable of impressive leaps to catch their quarry. They are also skilled climbers, often seeking refuge or a vantage point in trees.

The reproductive cycle of Niele involves a gestation period of approximately 70 days, resulting in litters of one to four cubs. Cubs are born blind and dependent on their mother, who raises them alone. They become independent after about a year. Niele are generally shy and elusive, making encounters with humans rare. Their conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, though habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to their long-term survival.
