Nevromotorikk is a specific approach to motor skills learning and rehabilitation that focuses on the neuromuscular system. Developed in parts of Europe in the mid-19th century, specifically in schools for the physically disabled, the method works by placing a person in a precise position and then gently removing their support. This procedure is continued until the individual can use their muscles to control their movements without assistance.

This approach was developed in at least three schools of physical therapy in Denmark, Norway, and Czechoslovakia, with the specific intent of creating a controlled environment to foster independence for those with physical disabilities. Teachers at these schools observed that, upon performing exercise, their patients would begin to demonstrate increased independence and coordination.

Despite being developed in response to practical needs, there has been very little formal evaluation or documentation of this method's impact. Few people in the medical and education communities know about this learning-related improvisation. This has led some to wonder about the long-term consequences of practicing it, despite anecdotal reports of positive experiences.

While conceptually distinct from both its formative and its immediate predecessor, aim-and-squirt instruction, it shows contemporaneous influences and evolutionary differences in physiological and neurological outcomes over time.
