Nettverkseide refers to an entity that owns and manages a network facility. The term is used across infrastructure sectors such as electricity, telecommunications, and transport. A nettverkseide holds the legal ownership of the network assets—lines, cables, poles, transformers, switches, and related equipment—and bears responsibility for their operation and ongoing maintenance.

Its core responsibilities include ensuring safety and reliability, planning capacity expansions, and managing asset performance. In regulated sectors, nettverkseide entities also set or influence access conditions for third parties, implement tariffs or price controls, and report performance to authorities. Because many networks function as natural monopolies, fair access and non-discrimination are central governance issues.

Ownership of networks varies. Nettverkseide can be publicly owned (for example by municipalities or state entities), privately owned by corporations, or organized as cooperatives or mixed structures. Some networks are operated by specialist service companies under concession or franchise agreements.
