Nestevirta is the term in Finnish for the flow of a liquid through a conduit or system. The word combines neste (fluid or liquid) and virta (flow). In physics and engineering, nestevirta refers to the movement and transport of liquid and to the rate at which the liquid passes through a given cross-section.

In fluid dynamics, nestevirta is described by the continuity equation and, for Newtonian fluids under common conditions, by the Navier–Stokes equations. Flow can be laminar or turbulent, depending on conditions such as velocity, viscosity, density, and characteristic length; the Reynolds number is commonly used to characterize this.
