Nelj is a fictional concept used in speculative fiction and worldbuilding discussions to describe a fourfold structure that governs complex systems. It is not a recognized term in established academic disciplines.

The term nelj is a constructed neologism; there is no universal etymology. In different works, authors assign incremental meanings or spellings, but no canonical source exists.

In the most common fictional formulation, nelj comprises four interdependent facets that drive behavior and evolution: perception (how inputs are sensed and interpreted), decision and action (choices and their execution), consequence (outcomes and feedback), and context (history and environment). The facets form a loop where each influences the others.
