nörovizyon

Nörovizyon is a Turkish term used to describe systems that translate neural activity into visual representations, allowing external visualization of internal brain states or imagined scenes. It is not a single device but a conceptual umbrella for research at the intersection of neuroscience, computer science, and visualization. The term blends references to nerves and brain activity with the word vision.

In practice, nörovizyon refers to methods that record neural signals and decode them into images or visual outputs. Noninvasive approaches include electroencephalography (EEG) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), while invasive methods use electrocorticography (ECoG) or implanted microelectrodes. The recorded signals undergo preprocessing, feature extraction, and machine learning–based decoding to map neural patterns to visual content. The resulting visualization can be displayed on screens, in head-mounted displays, or projected as dynamic scenes. Some research explores real-time rendering of imagined or viewed stimuli, while others focus on offline reconstruction of visual experiences from neural data.

Applications span medical, research, and creative domains. In medicine, nörovizyon concepts have potential for augmentative communication for patients with severe motor impairments and for neurorehabilitation. In research, they aid the study of how the brain represents visual information. In art and media, they inspire new forms of human–machine collaboration.

Ethical and practical challenges include signal reliability, interpretation accuracy, privacy concerns, and the potential for misuse of neural data. As a developing field, nörovizyon remains largely experimental, with progress closely tied to advances in neuroimaging, signal processing, and brain–computer interface technologies.
