Multipleksimine is a technique used in telecommunications and computer networking to combine multiple signals or data streams into a single channel. This allows for more efficient use of available bandwidth and resources. There are several types of multipleksimine, each with its own method of separating the combined signals at the receiving end.

One common form is frequency-division multipleksimine (FDM). In FDM, different signals are assigned unique frequency bands within the overall bandwidth. These signals can then be transmitted simultaneously over the same medium. At the receiver, filters are used to isolate each signal based on its assigned frequency.

Another significant type is time-division multipleksimine (TDM). With TDM, each signal is assigned a specific time slot during which it can transmit its data. The signals take turns using the channel, with each transmission occurring in a recurring time frame. Synchronized clocks at both the transmitter and receiver are crucial for TDM to correctly reconstruct the individual data streams.

Statistical multipleksimine (StatMux) is a more dynamic approach. It allocates channel capacity based on the actual demand of each signal. Unlike TDM, which assigns fixed time slots, StatMux dynamically allocates bandwidth to signals that require it, leading to potentially higher efficiency, especially when traffic is bursty or unpredictable.

Other forms of multipleksimine include wavelength-division multipleksimine (WDM), commonly used in fiber optics to send multiple signals using different wavelengths of light, and code-division multipleksimine (CDM), which uses unique codes to differentiate signals transmitted simultaneously. The choice of multipleksimine technique depends on factors such as the nature of the signals, the transmission medium, and the desired efficiency and performance.
