Multikamer, or multicamera, refers to a filming or broadcasting setup that uses two or more cameras recording or transmitting simultaneously. The different camera angles are captured for editing or live switching, enabling varied perspectives without repeating the action. In live production, a director or technical director selects an output feed in real time using a video switcher; in post-production, multi-camera editing combines the angles into a final cut.

Key components include multiple cameras, a central control room or production bus, a video switcher or vision mixer, intercoms for crew communication, and monitors for framing. Synchronization is important, often achieved with genlock or timecode, to keep feeds aligned.

Workflows begin with planning, blocking, and a shot list that identifies angles for each moment. During production, feeds are previewed and the director switches between them live. After recording, editors assemble sequences from the angles, preserving continuity and pace.

Benefits include efficient coverage, consistent lighting, and immediate options for cutting between performances or reactions. Challenges include color and white balance matching across cameras, lens differences, and the complexity and cost of routing signals.

Configurations typically range from two to several cameras, including stationary and remote (PTZ) units. Hardware switchers are common, though software-based systems can perform multicamera switching over IP networks. Genlock and timecode are often used to maintain synchronization.

Multikamer is widely used in television production, live events, news programs, talk shows, sports broadcasts, and online streaming to improve pacing and coverage.
