motoriken
Motoriken, or motor skills, refers to the ability to perform purposeful movements using the body's muscles and joints. It encompasses gross motor skills, such as walking, running, and jumping, which involve large muscle groups, and fine motor skills, such as grasping, manipulating small objects, and writing, which require precise control of smaller muscles. Motoriken also includes coordination of posture, balance, eye–hand coordination, and the planning and execution of movement, with contributions from the nervous system, sensory processing, and cognition.
Motoric development typically progresses through childhood, but there is wide individual variation in timing and sequence.
Assessment of motoriken in clinical and educational settings uses standardized instruments such as the Peabody Developmental
