In general, it highlights that conduction can occur through multiple transport channels rather than a single uniform process.

In electrical contexts, modes of conduction describe how electric charge moves through a medium or device. Common categories include metallic conduction, where electrons drift under an applied field; band conduction in semiconductors, governed by carrier populations in energy bands; hopping conduction in disordered or amorphous materials; and ionic conduction in electrolytes or solid electrolytes.
