Mittetulundusühing (MTÜ) is a legal form of non-profit organization in Estonia. It is established by individuals or legal entities for the purpose of achieving a common, non-profit-oriented goal, such as social, cultural, scientific, educational, or charitable activities. Unlike commercial enterprises, MTÜs are not primarily driven by profit generation for their founders or members.

The establishment of an MTÜ requires at least two founders and registration in the Estonian Non-profit Organizations and Foundations Register. Key governing bodies within an MTÜ typically include a general meeting of members, which is the supreme decision-making body, and a management board responsible for the day-to-day operations and representation of the organization.

MTÜs can engage in various activities to achieve their goals, including fundraising, organizing events, providing services, and advocating for their cause. They can receive funding from various sources, such as membership fees, donations from individuals and companies, grants from foundations and governmental bodies, and income generated from their own activities, provided this income is reinvested in the organization's objectives.

The operations of MTÜs are governed by the Non-profit Organizations Act and their own statutes. Transparency and accountability are important aspects, and MTÜs are generally required to submit annual reports to the relevant authorities. The legal status of an MTÜ ensures that any surplus generated is used for the furtherance of its statutory aims, rather than for distribution among its members.
