Mirigyben (Hungarian for “in the gland”) is a locational descriptor used in medical language to indicate that a substance, cell, or process is situated within glandular tissue. It can refer to benign or malignant lesions, inflammatory changes, or secretory activity contained inside a gland rather than in surrounding structures.

Glands are organs specialized for secretion and are broadly categorized as exocrine glands, which release substances through ducts (such as salivary, sweat, and pancreatic exocrine tissue), and endocrine glands, which secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream (such as the thyroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands). The functional units of glands are typically secretory cells organized into lobes or acini, supported by connective tissue and a rich vascular supply. Ducts, when present, provide a conduit for secretions to reach their target sites.

The phrase mirigyben is used to describe localization inside glandular compartments, including parenchyma or ducts. For example, a tumor arising within the thyroid gland would be described as located mirigyben, and inflammatory or infectious processes occurring within salivary glands may likewise be characterized as mirigyben involvement.
