MiniLED backlit is a display technology that utilizes a large number of much smaller LEDs compared to traditional LED backlighting. These MiniLEDs are significantly smaller, often measuring only a few hundred micrometers in size. This allows for a much greater number of LEDs to be packed into the backlight unit of a display.

The primary benefit of MiniLED backlighting is enhanced contrast and brightness control. Because there are so many more individual LEDs, they can be grouped into a significantly larger number of dimming zones. This granular control allows the display to precisely dim or brighten specific areas of the screen. When displaying dark scenes, many zones can be turned off or dimmed considerably, leading to deeper blacks and a higher contrast ratio. Conversely, for bright scenes or highlights, individual zones can be driven to achieve very high peak brightness levels.

This improved contrast and brightness performance results in a more vibrant and lifelike image with better detail in both dark and bright areas. MiniLED technology is often found in premium televisions and monitors where consumers seek superior visual quality.
