Mikroperimetry is a diagnostic tool used in ophthalmology to assess visual function with high spatial precision. It combines perimetry, which measures the sensitivity of the visual field, with optical coherence tomography (OCT), which provides detailed cross-sectional images of the retina. This integration allows clinicians to evaluate the function of specific retinal areas and correlate them with their underlying anatomical structure.

The procedure involves presenting a series of light stimuli of varying intensities at precise locations within the patient's visual field. Simultaneously, the OCT captures high-resolution images of the retina corresponding to these stimulus locations. By tracking eye movements, mikroperimetry can accurately determine the patient's visual threshold at each point, even in the presence of small retinal or ocular motor instabilities.
