Stakeholders include policymakers, utilities, project developers, researchers, educators, and end users. Activities to build microgridaware include training programs, professional certification, academic courses, workshops, pilot projects, and dissemination of case studies.

It aligns with established standards and frameworks, and is not a formal certification itself.

In practice, microgridaware supports better planning, procurement, and operation of microgrids by ensuring stakeholders understand capabilities, limitations, and regulatory requirements.
