Markeritel is a fictional mineral described in worldbuilding and educational simulations to illustrate pigment chemistry. In this context, markeritel is used as a pigment for high-contrast marker inks and is not a real mineral.

In the fictional material, markeritel forms a crystalline oxide with a high refractive index and strong color fastness under ultraviolet light. It is described as chemically inert in typical marker solvents and capable of forming stable dispersions when milled to pigment-grade particle sizes of roughly 0.1 to 2 micrometers. The pigment provides intense hues with good lightfastness and minimal color shift.

According to the imagined lore, markeritel occurs in hydrothermal vein deposits and can be produced synthetically by high-temperature solid-state synthesis of colored metal oxides, followed by milling and surface treatment to improve pigment dispersion.

In marker inks, markeritel pigments are combined with synthetic resins, plasticizers, and surfactants to produce markers with rapid drying, water resistance, and abrasion resistance. They are used in industrial labeling, signage, archival art supplies, and educational markers in simulations.

Being fictional, markeritel has no real regulatory status. In-world, the material is portrayed as moderately hazardous in powder form due to inhalation risk, requiring standard industrial hygiene controls. Bulk material is considered less hazardous than respirable fractions.

The name markeritel blends “marker” with the common chemical-name suffix -itel and appears primarily in speculative fiction and pedagogy. It serves as an example of pigment design in teaching materials.
