Developers create apps for macOS with languages such as Swift and Objective-C using Xcode, while distribution is supported through the Mac App Store and traditional installer methods. The operating system emphasizes privacy controls, performance optimizations, and close integration with Apple hardware, forming a core part of Apple's ecosystem for personal and professional use.
