Líffæraóðnar is an Icelandic term that describes a state of severe, often life-threatening, internal bleeding. It refers to a significant loss of blood within the body's cavities or tissues, which can lead to a rapid drop in blood pressure and shock. This condition is not a specific diagnosis in itself but rather a description of a critical physiological event.

The causes of líffæraóðnar are varied and can include traumatic injuries such as blunt force trauma or penetrating wounds, ruptured aneurysms, gastrointestinal bleeding from ulcers or varices, ectopic pregnancies, and complications from surgery.
