Låsesensorer, also known as lock sensors or door sensors, are devices used to detect the state of a lock, typically indicating whether a door or window is locked or unlocked, open or closed. These sensors are commonly integrated into security systems, smart home devices, and access control solutions.

There are several types of låsesensorer. Magnetic reed switches are a prevalent type, consisting of two parts: a magnet and a switch. When the magnet is close to the switch, it completes a circuit, indicating that the door or window is closed and locked. When separated, the circuit is broken, signaling that it is open. Another common type is the mechanical switch, which is physically actuated when the lock mechanism engages or disengages. More advanced låsesensorer might employ Hall effect sensors, which detect magnetic fields without physical contact, or even simple microswitches.

The primary function of a låsesensor is to provide real-time information about the security status of an entry point. In a home security system, they trigger an alarm if an entry is detected while the system is armed. In smart home environments, they can automate actions, such as turning off lights when a door is locked or sending a notification to a user's smartphone if a door is left unlocked. Access control systems use låsesensorer to verify that a door is properly secured after access has been granted or denied. Their reliability and discreet operation make them a fundamental component in many modern security and automation applications.
