Läpimurtohyökkäys, known in English as a breakthrough attack, is a military tactic. It involves concentrating forces on a narrow front to break through enemy lines. The objective is to create a gap that can be exploited by follow-on forces, leading to the encirclement or deep penetration of enemy territory. This tactic requires meticulous planning, precise timing, and overwhelming force in the assault sector.

The success of a läpimurtohyökkäys depends on several factors. These include achieving surprise, overwhelming enemy defenses at the point of attack, and maintaining momentum after the breakthrough. Artillery barrages, air support, and armored spearheads are often employed to soften defenses and punch through the enemy's front line. Once a breach is made, mobile reserves are typically committed to widen the gap and exploit the penetration, disrupting enemy command and control and severing supply lines.

Historically, this tactic has been used in various conflicts, notably during World War I on the Western Front and later refined in concepts like Blitzkrieg during World War II.
