Lentoreittejä, literally flight routes in Finnish, are the designated paths that aircraft follow between waypoints or navigation aids during the en route phase of flight. They form part of the air traffic management network and are published to guide both planning and execution of flights in Finnish airspace, as well as international routes that cross Finnish airspace.

Typical lentoreittejä are structured as ATS routes and are categorized according to altitude bands into lower and upper routes. Each route is defined by a sequence of navigation waypoints or airways and is published in aviation information publications (AIP) and appropriate air navigation databases. Pilots file IFR flight plans referencing these routes, and air traffic control assigns and monitors them during flight.

Advances in navigation, including RNAV and RNP-based procedures, have allowed for more flexible and efficient use of lentoreittejä. In Europe, initiatives such as free route airspace aim to enable aircraft to fly more direct paths across multiple states, reducing detours and fuel consumption while maintaining safety.

In Finland, lentoreittejä are managed within the national airspace framework by the aviation authority Traficom and the air navigation service provider Finavia, in coordination with European air traffic management networks.

The organization of mid-flight routing through lentoreittejä contributes to safety, predictability, and efficiency for commercial and cargo airlines, as well as for private pilots operating IFR and for search and rescue operations. They continue to evolve with technology and regulatory changes aimed at reducing emissions and optimizing capacity.
