Standards for annotation and interoperability (for example, POS tagging schemas or semantic role labeling) support comparability and reproducibility. Ethical considerations include consent, privacy, representation, and bias in data and models, particularly in cross-cultural contexts.

Challenges include variability across dialects and genres, resource gaps for many languages, and the interpretability of model-driven findings. Ongoing work aims to improve cross-linguistic comparability, data quality, and transparent reporting of methods and limitations.
