Clocks can be analog, showing hours and minutes with hands on a dial, or digital, displaying numerals. They are used in homes, workplaces, public spaces, and on the person as wristwatches.

Mechanisms: Mechanical clocks use gears, a mainspring or weights, and an escapement to regulate motion. Quartz clocks rely on a quartz crystal oscillator and electronic circuits for precise timing.
