Lagerplanen is a term used in logistics and inventory management to describe the plan or layout for storing goods in a warehouse or distribution center. In Scandinavian usage, the definite form lagerplanen may refer to the warehouse plan or storage strategy implemented by an organization. The concept covers both the physical arrangement of storage space and the accompanying rules for how stock is organized and retrieved.

Its purpose is to maximize storage capacity, improve picking efficiency, and support accurate inventory control. A lagerplan typically includes slotting decisions, zoning of areas by product type, and policies for rotation and replenishment. A well-designed plan prioritizes fast-moving items, minimizes travel time, and enables reliable stock counting.

Key elements include the layout of aisles and racks, the assignment of storage locations to SKUs, product classification by size and turnover, and rules for replenishment and stock rotation (such as FIFO or LIFO). It also encompasses performance metrics such as space utilization, order picking accuracy, and lead times, as well as processes for periodic review and revision.

Implementation is often supported by warehouse management systems (WMS) and digital floor plans. Data analysis tools for ABC analysis, slotting optimization, and cube utilization are commonly used to design and adjust lagerplanen. The term is widely used in European logistics literature and appears in Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish contexts.
