Laadvloer is the floor inside a vehicle’s cargo area where goods are placed during transport. It is a fundamental component of freight handling and is found in trucks and trailers as well as in many shipping containers and vans. The laadvloer must support heavy loads, resist wear from pallets and forklift tines, and provide a surface that is relatively smooth and non-slip for safe loading and unloading.

Construction and materials vary by vehicle type. In road transports, the floor is typically built on a strong base of steel or aluminum with a top deck consisting of wooden boards or metal plating. In intermodal containers, the floor is usually made of wooden boards laid over a steel frame, sometimes treated to resist moisture and pests. Some trailers or specialized equipment use metal floors with anti-slip coatings or textured surfaces to improve grip.

Anchorage and load securing are important functions of the laadvloer. The floor often incorporates attachment points, anchor tracks, or lashing rings to secure cargo with straps, nets, or bars. It is designed to accommodate palletized loads and allows safe entry and withdrawal of forklift tines or pallet jacks. In refrigerated or insulated units, the floor may include drainage or design features to handle condensation and improve airflow.

Maintenance and inspection are essential to safety and longevity. Wooden floors can suffer rot or delamination from moisture, while metal floors may corrode or suffer surface wear. Regular cleaning, inspection for damage, and timely replacement of worn boards or panels help prevent accidents and ensure reliable cargo handling.
