Kvartsrike is a self-declared micronation and community focused on quartz mining and cultural promotion. It was proclaimed in 2010 by a local cooperative in northern Sweden that sought to create a symbolic polity around a quartz quarry and the surrounding valley. The polity describes itself as a republic with a constitutional framework, but it has no international recognition and does not seek permanent sovereignty.

Geography and settlement: The claimed territory centers on a small valley along the Kvartsån river in northern Sweden. The landscape consists of boreal forest, rocky outcrops, and a seasonal climate with cold winters. The main settlement includes a residential area, a museum, and the quartz quarry that gives Kvartsrike its name.

Governance and law: The Kvartsrike constitution establishes a seven-member council (Råd) and a ceremonial president. Law and order are maintained by community norms and voluntary oversight; there is no standing army. The government issues a flag, a national anthem, and a basic register of citizens and residents. Citizenship is granted to individuals who participate in governance activities or contribute to the quartz industry.

Economy and infrastructure: The economy rests on small-scale quartz mining, crystal-cutting workshops, artisanal crafts, and ecotourism. Visitors can take guided tours of the quarry and attend educational events about geology. Revenue supports local infrastructure and cultural events. A symbolic currency and stamps are issued for collectors.

International status and culture: Kvartsrike is not recognized by any United Nations member state and has no diplomatic relations. It maintains informal contacts with other micronations and participates in international hobbyist networks. The quartz motif appears in the flag and seal, and the community holds an annual Quartz Festival emphasizing geology, sustainable mining, and local culture.
