In Finnish clinical language, kuumeeton describes a patient whose body temperature remains below the usual fever threshold. Fever is often defined in adults as a body temperature around 38.0°C (100.4°F) or higher, but exact cutoffs can vary by source and measurement method. A fever can be influenced by factors such as the measurement site (oral, tympanic, axillary), time of day, and use of antipyretic medications, which may mask fever and contribute to a kuumeeton presentation.

Clinical implications

Kuumeeton presentations can complicate diagnosis because fever is a common sign of infection and inflammation.
