Cruise tourism supports ports, tourism services and ship-related employment. Revenue typically comes from onboard services, beverages and excursions, in addition to ticket prices. Regulation covers safety (SOLAS), environmental standards, waste management, and emissions, with oversight by the International Maritime Organization, flag states, and port authorities, complemented by industry initiatives aimed at reducing ecological impact.
