Krvavitev, also known as hemorrhage, is the loss of blood from the circulatory system. It can occur externally, where blood is visible outside the body, or internally, where blood accumulates within body cavities or tissues, often without immediate external signs. The severity of bleeding ranges from minor, such as a small cut, to life-threatening, caused by trauma or underlying medical conditions.

Causes of krvavitev are diverse and can include physical trauma like cuts, contusions, or fractures, as well as surgical procedures. Medical conditions such as ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, ruptured aneurysms, and certain clotting disorders can also lead to hemorrhage. Anticoagulant medications can increase the risk and severity of bleeding.

Symptoms vary depending on the location and amount of blood loss. External bleeding is usually obvious. Internal bleeding may present with symptoms like pain, swelling, bruising, dizziness, weakness, rapid heart rate, and a drop in blood pressure (hypotension). In severe cases, it can lead to shock and organ failure.

Treatment for krvavitev aims to stop the bleeding, replace lost blood volume, and address the underlying cause. Minor external bleeding can often be managed with direct pressure and wound care. More significant bleeding may require surgical intervention, blood transfusions, or embolization procedures to block damaged blood vessels. Prompt medical attention is crucial for significant hemorrhages.
